  • cvs-commit-patch is an interface for checking a patch into cvs. Through its emacs interface it allows you to check in just some of the changes you've made in a file, facilitating logically independent changes.
  • JMath is a readline based frontend to Mathematica
  • rpmsync is a perl script acts like "rpm -F *.rpm" should, i.e. it freshens installed packages with any new versions it finds, except that it works across mutiple directories, deals reasonably with many different versions of the same RPM being present, and understands dependencies enough to upgrade additional packages if needed. It can be used to automatically install updates you've downloaded, but only the needed ones.
  • nnimap an IMAP backend for Gnus (which thanks to Simon Josefsson works much better and is now actually distributed as part of emacs)
  • easymovie is a package for including quicktime, and hence mpeg, movies in pdf documents generated by LaTeX or PDFLaTeX. It has options to control the visibility of the controls, the picture (poster) generated from the first frame of the movie, and the play mode (once, open, repeat and palindrome). Don't ask me why this hasn't already been done.
  • Inspired by the simple and powerful google maps interface I finally broke down and learned javascript by using it to rewrite Sea Haven Towers with a few other Solitaire games like Freecell and Spider Solitaire.
  • I really like the XEmacs package x-symbol , the input methods are so logical, so I made an RPM
